Ian Issa
Founder & CEO, HashNet
The Alpha Engine™. Eight years in the making. Four years tested. Now open to everyone.
Before crypto
Before crypto, Ian was a nationally recognized athlete, elite in two sports: sprinting and American football. He competed in the United States, where he completed his studies. A Junior Olympics qualifier, he was on the path to the Olympics when one injury ended his athletic career.
He had to find a second lane, and he found it in technology. In 2017 he entered crypto, and in 2018 he started building the work that became the Alpha Engine.
Since 2020 he has also advised digital asset projects on growth, go-to-market and exchange readiness, including projects incubated by Binance Labs and startup pitch winners at TOKEN2049.
The Alpha Engine
Proprietary AI built by Ian. It reads markets and makes its decisions around the clock, and everything it mines lands on a public blockchain for anyone to check.
One engine, four stages. Each stage added one ability.
2018The data
At his first company, Ian built a pipeline that collected on-chain data and prepared it for machine learning models. On top of it he built automated sniper, grid and liquidity mining bots, and he made them run from a single click when the same job took ten or twenty clicks everywhere else. He took the barrier to entry out years before the rest of the market did, and he built it to scale. Private equity acquired the company in 2020, and the pipeline was what they paid for.
2020The decision
Ian co-founded Hedge-Finance, his second company, and ran it as CEO. Its models chose which blue-chip token to reward holders in, based on where the data pointed, so every holder’s portfolio diversified on autopilot. Private equity acquired it in 2022 for the protocol and its community. It was listed on Coinbase until Ian sold it.
2022The real world
Ian took the engine into mining and ran it privately for institutions and high-net-worth clients.
2026Open to everyone
Ian opened the model to retail as HashNet. The Alpha Engine™ now runs mining for builders.
Mining is the first market. The Alpha Engine was built to read many more.
Why Ian got into mining
In 2021 the world started treating Bitcoin as digital gold, and a gold rush followed. Mining companies built everything around one coin. The whole plan was one thing: get more Bitcoin.
Ian saw three problems with that plan.
- Every four years, the halving cuts the reward in half. Same machines, same cost to run them, half the Bitcoin.
- The market runs 24/7 and the price swings hard. When the price drops and costs stay the same, a Bitcoin-only mining model loses money.
- They forgot the first rule: diversify. One coin, one price, one plan.
When the halving and a falling price hit together, a Bitcoin-only mining model has nothing to fall back on.
In 2022 Ian started mining the other way around, privately, for institutions and high-net-worth clients. That same year the market crashed. Some of the largest mining companies went bankrupt, and many sold the Bitcoin they’d mined just to keep running.
HashNet mines six currencies across four algorithms. The Alpha Engine™ decides where the hardware points, and the output from every currency is converted to Bitcoin. People told Ian that Bitcoin would be the only coin left standing. He uses the other coins to reach more Bitcoin.
He ran and proved the model privately for four years. In 2026 he opened it to retail as HashNet, built to lead the multi-currency space.
Today, mining companies are moving into AI data centers. Ian’s view is that mining didn’t stop working. The Bitcoin-only model was broken from the start, and the market exposed it.
“Bitcoin is entering its final accumulation window. HashNet is built for every decade after it.”
HashNet
HashNet is an AI company headquartered in Dubai, and it is how Ian opened four years of private mining to everyone else. Its product is the Alpha Engine™, trained on years of data from many markets. Today it’s applied to multi digital currency mining, the first of the markets it’s built for.
The Transparency Tour
When HashNet opened to the public, Ian saw the real problem in retail crypto: people can’t trust what they can’t see. So he went to them.
Since May 2026 he has travelled to more than 50 countries. In every country, he showed the full picture, live and in person: signed contracts, company details, purchase receipts, how the company makes money, and how the business works.
He did it as CEO, face to face, to build HashNet on the things it stands for: trust, transparency and the Alpha Engine™.
